This battery grip will extend the use time for the Contax 645, by allowing you to power the camera with AA batteries instead of the standard 2CR5 batteries. However there is a slot for you to use a 2CR5 battery in addition to the AA batteries. There is a switch on the bottom of the grip that will allow you to choose how you want to power the camera.

Remove the battery slot on the Contax 645, and replace it with the battery grip. The battery grip takes both 2CR5 batteries and/or AA batteries.
